Christine and the Queens cancels Coachella set due to family tragedy

Héloïse Letissier was due to perform at the festival this weekend

Christine and the Queens has cancelled her upcoming performance at Coachella Festival Weekend 2 following the death of her mother.

Héloïse Letissier was due to perform at the festival this weekend (April 20) but tweeted earlier today that she flew home to be with her family following the death of her mother earlier this week (April 16).

Letissier wrote: “I can only write very simple sentences. I lost my mother on Tuesday night. I came home to go through this ordeal with my loved ones – I won’t be able to sing this Saturday. I kiss you.”

Letissier was due to perform with Blood Orange at the Santa Barbara Bowl in California this evening (April 18) but this has also been cancelled.

Christine & The Queens confirmed late last year she’ll return to London this summer for a huge headline slot at All Points East Festival.

The ‘Girlfriend’ singer will take billing at the Victoria Park festival on Sunday May 26, alongside an impressive supporting line-up that includes the likes of Metronomy, Maribou State, Beach House and Kurt Vile and the Violators.
