Chvrches troll manager with fake ‘new material’ – watch

Band are 6 weeks into making new album in Glasgow studio

Chvrches have shared footage of a prank they played on their manager while recording their forthcoming second album.

The footage, which can be seen below, see the Scottish band explain that they are six weeks into recording their new album and that their manager had arrived at the Glasgow studio where they are working to hear the music for the first time. What he hears, however, is not the electro-pop the trio have made their name with. Watch the prank go down below, now.

Chvrches recently said that their second album is “coming along nicely”. The band said in a statement: “We’ve been busy in the studio in recent weeks working on our second album. The new songs are coming along very nicely and we can’t wait to share them with you.”

Speaking to NME earlier this year, bandmember Martin Doherty discussed their plans for the album, including the trio’s desire to make it leaner than ‘The Bones Of What You Believe’.

“I think we’ll use fewer instruments but ultimately try and do more with them,” Doherty said. “When you listen to a Michael Jackson song or a Prince song, you realise there’s absolutely nothing in it but an amazing bassline, drums and singing. We want to channel some of that.”

Chvrches previously announced that they were set to start work on their second album last month (January). Having recently finished a UK tour in support of their 2013 debut, the band posted a picture to Facebook with the caption: “Over 365 shows in two years and we’re going home. Work on album two starts in January.”

‘The Bones Of What You Believe’ had worldwide success and reached Number Nine in the UK Albums Chart.
