Chvrches on forthcoming debut album: ‘It’s not all big radio hits’

Scottish electro-pop group will release debut set 'The Bones Of What You Believe' on September 23

Chvrches have revealed that their forthcoming debut album won’t just be a collection of “big radio hits”.

The album, titled ‘The Bones Of What You Believe’, will be available as both a 12-track standard edition and an 18-track deluxe edition from September 23. The Scottish electro-pop group’s four singles to date – ‘Lies’, ‘The Mother We Share’, ‘Recover’ and ‘Gun’ – all feature on the tracklisting.

However, the group’s synth player Martin Doherty told Attitude that Chvrches have aimed to give “a bit more spectrum and depth to the record than might be apparent just having listened to the singles. It’s not all big radio hits you know?”.

Doherty also insisted that Chvrches haven’t allowed themselves to become distracted by the growing hype that surrounds them. “We try to keep our heads out of it as much as possible and just concentrate on actually being in a band from day to day,” he explained. “If we started listening to what people were saying, it would influence us and we’d probably lose sight of what we’re trying to do.”

Chvrches played a well-received set at Latitude Festival yesterday (July 19) and are supporting Depeche Mode at a couple of huge European shows later this month. They’re also scheduled to perform at Reading and Leeds Festivals during the weekend of August 23-24.
