Club NME LA home launches record label

Spaceland Recordings brings live LA shows to the masses

Spaceland — the renowned Los Angeles live music venue that’s home to Club NME Los Angeles — has announced the launch of its independent record label.

Spaceland Recordings is a joint venture between Spaceland Productions and marketing company CyKiK, and offers audio and video recordings of live Spaceland performances (including Club NME) as well as its sister clubs The Echo and Ex-Plex.

“When Spaceland started in 1995, I always had this vision of recording special concerts, like the first Beck show with his band or the first Elliott Smith solo show,” said Mitchell Frank of Spaceland Recordings and president of Spaceland Productions.

Spaceland Recordings gives us the opportunity to introduce fans to cool bands way before the curve and allow the entire world to hear them as local LA music fans first heard and saw them at Spaceland — live on stage,” Frank said.

Recordings available from Spaceland Recordings include Asobi Seksu, Darker My Love, The Drones (at a Club NME LA performance) and Los Angeles band Irving. Several other recordings are expected to be available in the coming months.

“Bands from all over the world play Spaceland,” said Kamran V, CEO of CyKiK and producer of Spaceland Recordings. “We’re trying to capture the amazing energy and communication between the bands and the audience.”
