Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has revealed that he is no longer a vegetarian following his separation from Gwyneth Paltrow, saying that he will eat the meat of any animal he could kill himself.
Martin revealed his dietary change in an interview with BBC Radio 2 host Steve Wright, saying: “I’d only eat something that I think I could kill,” he said. “I’d kill a fish. Not a giraffe.”
The newly single Martin also spoke about how music saved him following his “conscious uncoupling” from Paltrow earlier this year (2014). “You can choose your paths in life, I find, when you get to a point where you’re like, ‘I could either jump off a bridge or I could try and turn this around’,” he said. “I’m sure lots of people have that in much harder instances. You just find the right tools.”
“I feel so grateful,” he added. “Especially over the last couple of years, music has been alchemising. Going through something difficult in your life, music for me is always a friend and something that helps you to figure things out. That’s always what I’m doing in the middle of the night. I’m very grateful to be here. Every day is a blessing. That’s how I feel.”
Coldplay played the first of two nights at London’s Royal Albert Hall yesterday evening (June 1), which singer Chris Martin said would be one of their “last shows for a while”.
