Most-Shazamed rock and indie songs of 2014 so far revealed

Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys and Fall Out Boy all feature in indie countdown

Shazam have revealed the 10 most-searched for rock and indie songs of 2014 so far.

Shazam is a smartphone app that recognises any music or media file being played near it, then offering links to then purchase the song from a service such as iTunes.

Coldplay clinched the top spot with their recent single ‘Magic’. The song, taken from their sixth album ‘Ghost Stories’ had been Shazamed 1,319,829 times.

Second was Arctic Monkeys ‘Do I Wanna Know?’, the opening track from their fifth album ‘AM’, released in September last year, while Paramore’s ‘Ain’t It Fun’ was third. The song charted at Number 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100, while only reaching 147 in the UK.

Surprisingly in ninth and 10th places were Blur’s ‘Song 2′, released in 1997, and Oasis’ 1995 hit ‘Wonderwall’.
