Coldplay are set to earn a fee of over £1 million for playing a New Years Eve show at the request of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The band, who released their fifth album ‘Mylo Xyloto’ in October, will pocket the fee for playing at the Volvo Ocean Race venue in Abu Dhabi tomorrow night (December 31).
Coldplay guitarist Jonny Buckland told the Daily Express that the band are excited to visit the Middle East and the luxury hotel that awaits them when they arrive.
He said of his last visit to the Gulf: “I’ve never stayed anywhere like the hotel they put me in and probably never will again. It made Buckingham Palace look like a two-bed semi.”
Tickets to see Coldplay at the Volvo Ocean Race venue in Abu Dhabi cost a whopping £4,300.
Coldplay will play a massive UK tour next summer, playing a total of seven shows at football stadiums, including three nights at Arsenal FC’s Emirates Stadium.
