Coldplay set to score the first UK Number One single of 2012

Ed Sheeran is also on to take the top spot in the Official UK Album Chart

Coldplay are set to take the Number One spot in the Official UK Singles Chart on Sunday (January 1).

The band, who released their fifth studio album ‘Mylo Xyloto’ in October this year, are currently at Number One with their single ‘Paradise’, reports The Official Charts Company.

Coldplay are just ahead of Olly Murs, who is currently at Number Two with his single ‘Dance With Me Tonight’. Last week’s chart topper Military Wives are at Number Three with ‘Wherever You Are’, while Flo Rida and X Factor winners Little Mix are set to be at Numbers Four and Five.

Ed Sheeran is Number Six with ‘Lego House’, while Rihanna, Labrinth, LMFAO and Rizzle Kicks are on to make up the rest of the Top 10.

Ed Sheeran is also currently on to score the first Number One album of 2012, with his debut ‘+’, which is currently outselling Coldplay‘s ‘Mylo Xyloto’ and Olly Murs‘ ‘In Case You Didn’t Know’, which are presenty at Two and Three.

Bruno Mars is set to be Number Four, Amy Winehouse‘s posthumous album ‘Lioness: Hidden Treasures’ at Number Five and Rihanna‘s ‘Talk That Talk’ at Number Six. Adele, One Direction, Jessie J and Michael Buble are set to make up the rest of the Top 10.
