Coldplay to ‘collaborate with Rihanna and Beyonce’ at Superbowl half-time show

Band are due to embark on a UK tour in 2016

Coldplay could be set to collaborate with Rihanna and Beyonce for their forthcoming Superbowl half-time show.

Both artists have previously worked with the band with the former appearing on the track ‘Princess Of China’ from their 2011 album ‘Mylo Xyloto’ and the latter featuring on two tracks from the band’s recent LP ‘A Head Full Of Dreams’.

“Chris and his band know they’re not typically as showy as recent performers like Katy Perry and Madonna with all the dancers and, while they love a light show, they still want to bring a few surprises out,” a source told The Daily Mirror. “Beyonce and Rihanna are both keen to join in the high-profile ceremony and will add just the spark needed to make it an amazing and unforgettable show.”

High profile collaborations have previously featured at the show with Madonna pulling in Nicki Minaj and MIA for her performance in 2012. The latter got into trouble with the NFL when she flipped her middle finger during ‘Gimme All Your Luvin’.

The ceremony is set to be held on February 7 at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Meanwhile Coldplay recently revealed they are taking song requests from their fans for their forthcoming ‘A Head Full Of Dreams’ tour.Frontman Chris Martin has said that while the band have finalised most of their setlist, they have left part of it open for members of the audience to submit their favourite tracks.

The band are due to play four dates at Wembley Stadium next summer as part of their UK tour from June 15-19, 2016. The tour is the band’s first in three years and follows the release of new album ‘A Head Full Of Dreams’.

Coldplay will play the following UK live dates in support of the album next summer:

Manchester Etihad Stadium (June 4, 5)
Glasgow Hampden Park (June 7)
London Wembley Stadium (June 15, 16,18, 19)
