COLDPLAY, OASIS NOMINATED FOR IVOR NOVELLO AWARD

A host of big names in with a chance of the top songwriting prize...

OASIS, COLDPLAY, Streets and Ms Dynamite are amongst the names who will be fighting for an IVOR NOVELLO award for British songwriting next month.

The stars will gather at Le Meridien Grosvenor House, Park Lane in central London on May 22 for the 48th annual ceremony.

Avril Lavigne ‘Weak Become Heroes’ and Kylie Minogue‘s ‘It Takes More’ in the Best Contemporary Song category, while Noel Gallagher, with ‘Stop Crying Your Heart Out’, is pitched against Aqualung’s ‘Strange And Beautiful’ and Liberty‘s ‘The Other Side’ for Best Song Musically And Lyrically.

In other categories, U2, [/a], Robbie Williams , [a] , X-Press 2 and [/a] also feature.

Last year, [a]’s ‘Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ was the big winner, snapping up three gongs. Ash

and U2 were also winners.
