It's an evening of in-studio shenanigans...

A bizarre love triangle featuring CHRIS MARTIN, TIM WHEELER and DARIUS DANESH took over STEVE LAMACQ’s EVENING SESSION on BBC RADIO 1 last night (October 22).

The in-studio shenanigans began around 8.30pm when Martin, on a day off in the middle of Coldplay‘s triumphant tour, dropped in to Radio 1 studios to co-present the show.

He was joined by Ash frontman Wheeler a little later. After some chat about Chris’ role in the Ash horror spoof ‘Slashed’ and a rendition of a song Chris and his friend, the comedian Simon Pegg, have written about a witch, phonelines were opened.

One of the first people to call in was ‘Pop Idol’ star Darius Danesh. He spent most of his call telling Chris how bands like Coldplay and Travis inspired him to make real music.

Chris Martin was in fine form throughout, telling Lamacq how he fallen completely again for Oasis: “We listened to them all the time in America. We’ve become really enamoured again with guitars and loudness and confidence,” he said. At one point, the excited, ever-polite frontman said how happy he was to be presenting the show.

“This is great. I can’t believe my life. It’s bonkers.”
