COLDPLAY NAMEDROP THE BOY

However, The favourites' money is on Badly Drawn Boy...

Coldplay have told nme.com that it is “nice” to be favourites to pick up this year’s MERCURY MUSIC PRIZE for their debut album ‘PARACHUTES’ – but have tipped fellow nominee BADLY DRAWN BOY because he’s “brilliant”.

Speaking today (July 26) from Barcelona where they are on a promotional jaunt, they said: “We put a lot of effort into making a record that we were proud of and happy with so it’s nice to know that other people quite like it too. We always hoped that our record would mean as much to other people as our favourite records mean to us.”

Coldplay added that though they were bookmaker’s favourite at 3/1, their vote “would go to Badly Drawn Boy because he is brilliant.”
