Coldplay have signed a US record deal with NETTWERK RECORDS.
According to US website [url=]www.billboard.com, Coldplay will release their debut album, ‘Parachutes’, through Nettwerk on November 7. The band’s UK spokesperson was unable to confirm the reports today (August 4).
The album is expected to be released in exactly the same format as in the UK.
Following the release of the record, the band plan to release their biggest UK hit to date, ‘Yellow’, as the first single in January 2001, with a tour to the following month.
‘Parachutes’ is still favourite to win this year’s Mercury Music Prize. Other bands which are nominated for this year’s award include Leftfield, Richard Ashcroft, MJ Cole, Death In Vegas, Doves, Badly Drawn Boy, Nitin Sawhney, The Delgados, Helicopter Girl, Kathryn Williams and Nicholas Maw.
The winner will be announced on September 12.
