Watch Coldplay cover The Killers’ ‘Mr Brightside’ live at Las Vegas gig

Band played the track at their concert earlier this month

Coldplay paid tribute to The Killers in the latter band’s hometown of Las Vegas earlier this month.

Chris Martin and co played a gig at the US city’s T-Mobile Arena on September 1, merging a performance of their 1999 b-side ‘See You Soon’ with a stripped-back rendition of ‘Mr Brightside’. Watch footage beneath.

It’s not the first cover of Coldplay’s tour. The band have previously covered the likes of Prince, Viola Beach and Bruce Springsteen.

Last month, Liam Gallagher made headlines after comparing Chris Martin to a vicar.

Gallagher criticised the current music climate in a Q interview, saying: “It’s fucking shit. It’s boring without me, isn’t it? On my game I will roast anyone. Anyone. Whether it’s interviews, photoshoots, on a record or on that fucking stage.”

He went on to say: “There’s a lot of singers out there who are one step away from a vicar. And very few who stare at you in the eyes. They’ve all got something to hide. They know they’ve done wrong.”

“You ever get Chris Martin to look you in the eye? I’m sure he does put on a good gig, Chris Martin, the amount of money he gets paid. He looks like he’s in [kids TV show] The Tweenies though. The whole band look beyond shit. Have they not seen any photos of The Rolling Stones? Probably not.”
