The band were only three songs into their performance when singer and guitarist Ellie Rowsell began introducing ‘Don’t Delete The Kisses’.
“This song’s a love song and I wanna invite two lovebirds on stage,” she said, as fans Hannah and Katie walked out from the wings. Hannah then got down on one knee and opened a jewellery box with an engagement ring in.
Katie said yes, and Rowsell celebrated the engagement by shouting: “Yesssss! She said yes!” She then dedicated the song to the couple as bassist Theo Ellis gave the pair a congratulatory hug as they walked off stage. Watch footage of the moment above.
Wolf Alice drew evenly from their two albums ‘My Love Is Cool’ and ‘Visions Of A Life’ during their performance, which concluded with fan-favourite ‘Giant Peach’. Ahead of the track, Ellis thanked the crowd, telling them headlining the BBC Radio 1 tent was a “dream come true.”
Wolf Alice played:
‘Your Love’s Whore’
‘You’re A Germ’
‘Don’t Delete The Kisses’
‘St. Purple & Green’
‘Space & Time’
‘Visions Of A Life’
‘Moaning Lisa Smile’
The band’s appearances at Reading & Leeds 2018 are their last UK festival dates of the summer. After completing festival season with slots at events in France, Ireland, Germany, and Thailand, the band will head to Australia and New Zealand for their own headline dates.
Rowsell confirmed earlier this month the band would be taking a break after fulfilling their live duties, adding they would be having “some kind of party” to see them off. “We’re definitely gonna say goodbye for a while,” she told DIY. “I’ll do anything for a celebration so definitely, yeah. Nothing’s confirmed but we will be having a party.”
