The star is to stand trial next month...

COURTNEY LOVE’s trial for one misdemeanour count of felony drug possession has been postponed until next month – but prosecutors have brought a new charge against the star.

Love’s counsel, Michael Rosenstein requested and received an extension from Judge Patricia Schnegg to await the results of independent drug testing on samples collected from the singer the night of October 2. The case is now scheduled to take place on April 5. Love did not appear in court.

The charge, Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance, stems from the night of October 2, when police say the star was found in a Los Angeles street after having broken some windows at a nearby home.

Love has two felony counts of drug possession stemming from incidents the same evening, and as of yesterday (March 8) she is facing one more misdemeanour count, for Disorderly Conduct, filed by the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office.

According to Reuters the new charge has been added as something to “fall back on” if there is a technical problem in proving the other charges.

A spokesperson for the City Attorney’s Office said: “In case we have technical problems with count one, we have a second count we can fall back on.”

Love has pleaded innocent to all the charges against her.
