Courtney Love: ‘Dispute with landlady made me cry’

Hole singer says she was upset when Donna Lyon told her nobody liked her

Courtney Love has revealed that her dispute with the landlady of her New York apartment made her cry.

In a blog post written for Xojane, the Hole singer said that Donna Lyon, who owns the apartment she has been renting, reduced her to tears by claiming that nobody liked her.

Love has been renting the property for the last 10 months, but Lyon has gone to court to try and force her from the house after claiming the grunge star owes over $50,000 (£32,000) in rent and ruined the apartment’s décor by wallpapering and painting over its walls.

Love, who previously hit back by claiming she had been paying her rent and had had Lyon’s permission to redecorate the property, wrote:

Donna Lyon, the owner, came over the other day and, after informing me that, ‘No one likes you, Courtney Love, NO ONE,’ which made me cry, she proceeded to knock over a photo (she’s rather… unwieldy) of me with Dame Elizabeth Taylor and shatter the mirrored frame.

She went on to add: “Greed. It’s kinda everywhere, but so is art! So is music. So is acting…”

The case is set to be heard on January 13 next year. Earlier this year, Love reportedly signed a deal to pen her own memoir. It is thought that the book will “set the record straight” about her marriage to Nirvana late frontman Kurt Cobain, her career as a rock star and actress, and her relationships with other celebrities and her daughter, Frances Bean.
