Courtney Love and Frances Bean pay tribute to Kurt Cobain on what would have been his 51st birthday

"Happy birthday baby god I miss you"

Courtney Love and Frances Bean Cobain have shared emotional tributes to Kurt Cobain on what would’ve been the late Nirvana frontman’s 51st birthday.

Posting on Instagram, Hole singer Love shared a photo that showed her cuddling her late husband, prior to the singer taking his own life in April 1994.

“Happy birthday baby god I miss you”, Love captioned the tribute. One fan responded: “He is never forgotten and he will be loved forever. RIP Kurt. Happy 51st birthday legend.”

Cobain’s only daughter, Frances Bean, shared a photo of her and her late father, writing in a caption: “I hope they don’t have the internet wherever you are. I feel like that would be counterproductive. Regardless, Happy Birthday to an angel”.

The emotional tributes comes after Love was forced to file official documents last year to prevent the publication of images from the scene of Cobain’s death.

The images reportedly portrayed Kurt’s body “as it lay in the family residence after he was shot in the head” and their publication was supported by conspiracy theorist Richard Lee.

This comes after Lee failed in his attempt to sue the Seattle Police Department to get the photos released, before launching a fresh campaign again in 2016.

Cobain’s surviving family argue that sharing the images “would not only exacerbate the post-traumatic stress Frances Bean Cobain has suffered since childhood but physically endanger her and her mother by encouraging more disturbed stalkers and fanatical threats.”

Yesterday, Frances Bean Cobain also opened up on her favourite track of the last 10 years, revealing it to be Peace’s From Under Liquid Glass, which was released last year to increase awareness of mental health issues.
