Craig David has hit the top spot for the second time in a row, scoring his second solo Number One yesterday (July 30) when his new single ‘7 Days’ stormed straight to the top of the charts as this week’s highest new entry.
The teenage British R&B star has followed the success of his first solo single, ‘Fill Me In’.
Speaking previously to nme.com, David said he was “blown away” by the overnight success he has achieved. He continued: “From being in your room one minute and the next in the public eye, in the media, having to sign autographs and be on TV, what’s happening? A minute ago I wasn’t doing anything so why am I so different now?”
The second highest new entry came from the Bomfunk MCs, with their new single, ‘Freestyler’ at Number Two, pushing last week’s Number One, Five‘s cover of the Queen hit ‘We Will Rock You’, down two places to Number Three.
Elsewhere in the charts, Macy Gray only managed to scrape in to the top 40. Her new single, ‘Why Didn’t You Call Me’, entered the charts at Number 38, while Morcheeba‘s comeback single, ‘Rome Wasn’t Built In A Day’, fared little better, entering the charts at Number 34.
