Craig David on what to expect from his upcoming tour and next album

'I just want it to be about the music, man'

Looking to the future, Craig David has revealed what to expect from his upcoming 2017 UK arena tour and his next album.

The ‘Seven Days’ veteran was appearing at last night’s BBC Music Awards, celebrating a whirlwind year, after scoring his first No.1 album in 16 years with ‘Following My Intuition‘. Now more in demand than ever, he’s about to head out on his biggest UK tour to day.

“We can take the pyro, we can take the lasers – I just want it to be about music, man,” Craig told NME. “The whole thing that allowed this album to do so well as going back and working with young and upcoming producers and let the music do the talking. Curating my TS5 shows to level that we could play them at Glastonbury and headline Common People festival to 40,000 people in a common I used to walk in as a kid – it’s all down to the kid.

“Drums, acoustic and TS5 all as one will be part of the arena show.”

When asked what to expect from his next album, he said: “More of the same. After 16 years of trying out different sounds, the one thing I’m most familiar with is predominantly R&B, but there was some garage, some drum and bass – that was the roots of what I grew up doing. I’ve kind of gone back to that. It’s going to be more of a mix.”
