Klaxons wish Alice Glass luck in solo career following Crystal Castles’ split

Alice Glass and Ethan Kath released three albums since forming the band in 2004

Following the band’s break-up earlier today, fellow musicians have expressed their sadness at the news that Crystal Castles are no longer.

Taking to her personal account this morning, singer Alice Glass wrote: “I am leaving Crystal Castles. My art and my self-expression in any form has always been an attempt towards sincerity, honesty, and empathy for others. For a multitude of reasons both professional and personal I no longer feel that this is possible within CC. Although this is the end of the band, I hope my fans will embrace me as a solo artist in the same way they have embraced Crystal Castles.”

This afternoon has seen former tour mates Klaxons took to Twitter to state that they “couldn’t have any more love” for the group, while Pictureplane described the duo as “one of the greatest bands of our generation”. Meanwhile, Swim Deep‘s James Balmont and Summer Camp‘s Elizabeth Sankey also added their two cents on the news.

Glass formed the band with instrumentalist Ethan Kath in Toronto in 2004 and the pair went on to release three studio LPs – 2008’s ‘(i)’, 2010’s ‘(ii) and 2012’s ‘(iii)’. Their last show together was on October 4, 2013 in Mexico.
