Track previews first album with new singer Edith Frances
Crystal Castles have shared new song ‘Concrete’, their third track with new singer Edith Frances.
The track can be heard here via Korean website MNet. It follows ‘Deicide’ and ‘Frail’ after Frances joined the duo in April 2015.
It’s rumoured Frances and founder member Ethan Kath’s first album together will be called ‘Amnesty (I)’, with a rumoured release date of August 19, though this has yet to be confirmed.
‘Concrete’ is one of four new songs Crystal Castles have previewed at their live shows since Frances joined.
Former singer Alice Glass left acrimoniously in 2014. Kath had claimed Glass hadn’t actually contributed vocals or lyrics to some of the pair’s songs, leading Glass to respond: “Manipulative statement about my contribution to the band only reinforce the decision I made to move on to other things.”
Crystal Castles were dropped from a showcase of feminist artists at South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas, in March after Glass issued a statement saying: “As someone who knew Ethan Kath on a personal and professional level, it’s my opinion that he’s not an appropriate artist to be performing at a feminism-centric event.”
The new album would be Crystal Castles’ first since their third album ‘iii’ was released in 2012. They resume touring on Saturday (July 2) at a festival in Russia, with their Reading And Leeds Festival shows in August their only scheduled UK gigs.
