CSS have revealed the real reasons behind Ira Trevisan‘s departure from the group.
The bassist left the band in April this year, claiming she was concerned about global warming and how she was contributing to it by touring.
Speaking in the new issue of NME, Adriano Cintra explained: “She wasn’t interested in playing the bass. She was a terrible bass player and when we all went back to Brazil to start rehearsing the new songs to record… like Ana [Rezende, guitarist], she went to have piano lessons, but Ira, she went taking French lessons.
“I was like, ‘Oh my god, why are you learning French? And not having bass classes?’ – especially when everyone else is trying to improve, and there’s just somebody holding you back. And so eventually she went, ‘Oh you know, I don’t want to make no drama but I’m going to leave the band’.”
CSS also explained that Trevisan was concerned she was getting too old, and wanted to focus more time on her fashion designing.
