Daft Punk to wear ‘Star Wars’ stormtrooper helmets for Grammy Awards performance?

The ceremony takes place on Sunday January 26 in Los Angeles

Daft Punk are reportedly set to wear Star Wars stormtrooper helmets for their Grammy Awards performance tomorrow (January 26) in Los Angeles.

Stevie Wonder will perform live with Daft Punk at the Grammys along with Pharrell and Nile Rodgers, who appear on their 2013 album ‘Random Access Memories’. It will be the dance duo’s first live appearance since the release of the album. Hollywood Reporter claims that Daft Punk will be wearing ‘authentic’ helmets from the sci-fi movie franchise.

“According to a source, the masks look like they could be from the The Empire Strikes Back era and appear to be authentic,” writes the news source.

Rehearsals are currently underway for the event. It is further reported that Daft Punk’s medley performance will include Wonder’s ‘I Wish’, Chic’s ‘Le Freak’ and their own ‘Get Lucky’.

Daft Punk are up for five Grammys, including the coveted Album of the Year gong, Best Dance/Electronica Album for ‘Random Access Memories’ and Best Pop/Group performance for ‘Get Lucky’. The Grammys take place at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles.

Lorde, James Blake, Tame Impala, Disclosure and The National are amongst the other artists to receive nominations for the 56th annual Grammy Awards. Click here to see the full list of nominees.
