French duo's inescapable disco hit has also racked up over 100 million views on YouTube
Daft Punk‘s disco hit ‘Get Lucky’ has now been streamed over 100 million times on Spotify.
‘Get Lucky’ is already the most popular song in Spotify history and at the time of writing (August 22) it has racked up a massive 104,768,829 plays on the streaming service. It also holds the record for the most Spotify plays in a 24-hour period, as reported by MusicAlly.
Meanwhile, the “official audio” of ‘Get Lucky’ on YouTube has also been streamed over 100 milion times, currently registering a play count of 111,781,151. On June 28, ‘Get Lucky’ became the first single released in 2013 to sell a million copies in the UK, taking just 69 days to cross the 1m mark.
Last week the French duo announced their follow-up to ‘Get Lucky’, which will be ‘Lose Yourself To Dance’, another track from their Number One album ‘Random Access Memories’, which was released on May 17.
Like ‘Get Lucky’, ‘Lose Yourself To Dance’ features Pharrell Williams on vocals and was co-written by Daft Punk with Williams and Chic’s Nile Rodgers. It’s been given a “focus date” of September 23 in the UK and a video is expected shortly though dates have yet to be confirmed.
