Daft Punk are on course for a second week at Number One in the Official Album Chart with ‘Random Access Memories’.
‘Random Access Memories’ was released on May 20 became the fastest selling album of 2013, according to Official Chart data, selling over 160,000 copies in just one week. The sales have not slowed down in its second week on sale with the album outselling competition in the shape of new albums from Laura Marling and Stooshe.
Marling’s new album ‘Once I Was An Eagle’ is new at 3, while the long delayed debut album by pop trio Stooshe is at 5. Other new entries on the Album Chart include Black Star Riders, who are made up of former members of Thin Lizzy and The Almighty, whose album ‘All Hell Breaks Loose’ is at 11. Veteran rockers Alice In Chains, meanwhile, are on course for their fifth UK Top 40 album with ‘The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here’ new at 12.
Meanwhile, the current Number One ‘La La La’ by Naughty Boy looks certain to be replaced by Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’, a track that has already sold over 100,000 copies this week.
Elsewhere in the Singles Chart, Jessie J’s ‘Wild'(4), leads a slow week for new entries with just South London MC Stylo G likely to break into Top 20 this weekend with his track ‘Soundbwoy’ new at 16, while Jennifer Lopez looks set to clock up her 20th Top 40 hit with the Pitbull featuring ‘Live It Up’.
