Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’ tops Official UK Singles Chart for fourth consecutive week

Meanwhile, Rod Stewart bags his first Official UK Number One Album in 40 years

Daft Punk‘s ‘Get Lucky’ has become the second biggest-selling UK single of the year, as it remains top of the Official UK Singles Chart for a fourth consecutive week.

After surpassing the 500,000 sales mark last week, the track, which features Pharrell Williams and Chic’s Nile Rodgers, has added a further 114,000 copies sold to take the figure to 606,000, reports the Official Charts Company. The song is now just 19,000 copies behind this year’s biggest seller, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ ‘Thriftshop’.

Brighton singer/songwriter, Passenger, is up one place to Number Two this week with his track ‘Let Her Go’, while US X Factor judge Demi Lovato claims her highest charting UK single to date with ‘Heart Attack’ (3). Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ ‘Can’t Hold Us’ is at Number Three and Rudimental’s ‘Waiting All Night’ completes this week’s Top 5.

Elsewhere, Wretch 32 has bagged his fourth UK Top 10 hit as his track ‘Blackout’, featuring Shakka, is at Number Six. Bonnie Tyler is at Number 96 with her Eurovision entry song ‘Believe In Me’, while contest winner, Denmark’s Emmelie De Forest, is at Number 99 with ‘Only Teardrops’. Both are expected to climb the charts this week following last night’s (May 18) televised competition.

Meanwhile, in the Official UK Album Chart, Rod Stewart has secured his first Number One Album in nearly 40 years. ‘Time’, the follow up to his Christmas album ‘Merry Christmas, Baby’, is the veteran rocker’s first full studio album of self-penned songs in over two decades. The record gives Stewart his eighth Number One.

Gabrielle Aplin is new in at Number Two with ‘English Rain’, while Vampire Weekend have matched the success of their second album ‘Contra’ with ‘Modern Vampires Of The City’ entering in at Number Three. Carlo Emerald’s ‘The Shocking Miss Emerald’ is at Number Four and Rudimental’s ‘Home’ is at Number Five.

Primal Scream land at Number 12 with their tenth studio album ‘More Light’ and The Fall celebrate a Top 40 placing, as their 30th studip album ‘Re-mit’ enters in at Number 40.
