Daft Punk are set for a fourth straight week at the top of the Official UK Singles Chart with their track ‘Get Lucky’, which has now sold more than 500,000 copies.
The song, which is the first to be taken from the duo’s forthcoming new album ‘Random Access Memories’, has spent the past three weeks at Number One, and has already sold 49,000 copies since Sunday (May 12). The track is easily the French act’s biggest selling UK single, overtaking their 2000 Number Two hit ‘One More Time’.
Elsewhere, there are set to be high new entries for Demi Lovato and Wretch 32 with their singles ‘Heart Attack’ and ‘Blackout’ charting at Three and Four respectively. Other new entires on the chart are likely to come from Sub Focus, Stooshe and Tich with a host of songs also set to re-enter the chart after being performed on The Voice and Britain’s Got Talent last weekend. Highest among those is Birdy’s cover of ‘People Help The People’ by Cherry Ghost, as sung by Alice Barlow and Andrea Begley on the BBC talent show on Saturday (May 11).
Meanwhile, in the Official Album Chart, Rod Stewart and Gabrielle Aplin are head to head in the race for Number One. The veteran crooner’s new album ‘Time’ is narrowly ahead of Aplin’s ‘English Rain’ at the time of writing. Vampire Weekend, meanwhile, are currently at Number Three with their new album ‘Modern Vampires Of The City’, with former ABBA vocalist Agnetha Faltskog one place behind them with her album ‘A’. Other new entries are due from Primal Scream (7) and The Fall (23).
