Pete Doherty back in Camden, Bragg for Lib Dems, Brian May hates the Tories – your music gossip stop
Welcome to the Daily Gossip: your daily stop-off to find out who in the world of music has been up to what.
Today’s top gossip:
The Fratellis appear to have split up. Both singer Jon Lawler and bassist Barry Wallace posted messages on their forum saying the band are unlikely to record together again. “We have no plans to work together right now. Sometimes things just work out that way. Mince, Baz and I are working on music but not with each other for a while,” Lawler explained. Meanwhile, Wallace reminisced about the band’s past success. “From the very first day we got together, The Fratellis never had a plan as such, we knew we were good, we knew we had a chance to make it,” he said. “Turns out we were right, everything fell into place and we’ve spent the last five or so years touring the world sharing this great music with you all. At this particular point in time though we’ve found ourselves making music still but just not together. This is just the way it goes I suppose sometimes.” The frontman is currently singing in Codeine Velvet Club, under his real name Jon Lawler (Thefratellis.com).
From the papers:
Brian May lashed out at Conservative MP David Parsons after he was criticised for his anti-hunting campaign. The Queen guitarist labelled Parsons a “pathetic, arrogant, jumped-up, snivelling little dweeb” (Brianmay.com).
