Blur to record ‘new album’ in January – Daily Gossip

Lady Gaga gets detained, snow grounds Amy Winehouse – your music gossip stop

Welcome to the Daily Gossip: your daily stop-off to find out what the stars of the music world have been up to in the tabloids and beyond, with the help of plenty of “anonymous sources”.

Today’s top gossip:

Blur are in the tabloids today (December 20), because they’re supposedly recording a “new album” in January. According to one of those anonymous sources, “The lads will be getting into the studio early next year. There’s no concrete plans regarding what they will do with the material, but if they’re all agreed it could become the first full Blur album to feature all four members in over a decade.”

This story follows on from Damon Albarn’s comments to NME last month in which he said that the band will be doing “something small” together in the new year. Could be a dinner party, could be a new record – we’ll have to wait and see (The Sun).

From the papers and beyond:

The snow played havoc with musicians over the weekend. Cher Lloyd had to cancel her gigs in Scotland and a plane Lily Allen had been hoping to catch was grounded at Heathrow, we read. Shakira, however, refused to be beaten by the conditions and turned up a whole day early to make sure she made her gig in Glasgow. What a trooper (Daily Record).

The weather also kept Amy Winehouse from returning to the UK after her gig in Moscow. According to the red-tops she was paid a cool £1 million for doing a private show in the Russian capital, so she could probably afford an extra day in a hotel (The Sun).

Finally, Example says he is taking inspiration from Coldplay and Snow Patrol for his new album, we read. The rapper said, “Every song is going to be a lot more epic” (Daily Star).
