After the embarrassing news about the likes of Beyonce, Mariah Carey and Nelly Furtado being paid handsomely to play live for the ruling Gaddafi family of troubled Libya, Nelly Furtado has announced she’s going to give her fee from the concert away.

The ‘Maneater’ singer, who was paid a cool $1 million (£613,000) for a 45-minute set for the family in Italy in 2007, announced the news via her Twitter page, Twitter.com/nellyfurtado. She wrote that she would be “donating the $”. We’re checking Beyonce and Carey‘s pages next…

According to the red-tops today (March 1), Cee Lo Green is all set to mentor the next batch of hopefuls on the US version of The X Factor. The singer, who played the NME Awards Big Gig on Friday (February 25), said: “I had a meeting with Simon [Cowell] the other day and I was offered a job. I didn’t say yes and I didn’t say no” (The Sun).

After his comeback single ‘Just The Way You Are (Drunk At The Bar)’ received a less than flattering reception, former Westlife man Brian McFadden has taken to Twitter to defend it. Liam Gallagher has revealed that he’s been taking singing tips from The Who’s Roger Daltrey. The Beady Eye man said: “I remember Roger telling me ‘You have to warm up’ and I was like, ‘Warming up man? Are you mental?’ Now I realise though, you have to warm up if you want to carry on singing.” Liam then added: “I look after it [his voice] a bit, but not too much. I don’t want to sound like Chris Martin.” That’s more like it (various).

Just after saying she’d like to duet with Jay-Z, Gwyneth Paltrow’s musical aspirations could be much nearer. The actresses has said she’s in talks to sign a record contract (Acess Hollywood).

Adele has signed up for online dating, we read, telling the tabs that she’s joined cyber romance portal Eharmony.com. But it’s not going so well. “I can’t put a picture of myself, so I don’t get any emails” the singer said (The Sun).

Finally, NME sends it’s congratulations to Kings Of Leon guitarist Matthew Followhill, as he and wife Johanna are expecting their first child. The royal tot is due in early summer (The Sun).
