‘Damn near killed myself’ – Frances Bean Cobain teases emotional new song with stripped-back performance video

The musician is said to be at work on a debut album

Frances Bean Cobain has teased a new track that references self-love, loss, and suicide. Watch the clip below.

Earlier this year, it was reported that the daughter of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love had signed a two-album record deal with Colombia. Back in September, she teased a stripped-back song online. Offering herself feedback on her own performance, she said: “What she lacks in technical precision, she makes up for with charisma.”

Yesterday (November 30), the musician took to Instagram to share a live performance of another emotional song.

Cobain sings on the track: “No one told me how I should love myself / Damn near killed me / Damn near killed myself / I’ve been stuck inside your time capsule / Don’t you think you ought to let me go.”

The singer wrote the lyrics in the video’s caption, along with a message on her raw vocal style. “If I could keep the raspiness in my voice from being sick without getting sick … I would,” she said.

Meanwhile, Alternative Nation reported yesterday that Cobain had admitted herself to The Hydration Room in California. The singer said on Instagram that the clinic “saved [my] sickly smol body. Thank you friends.”

According to the publication, the clinic “successfully integrates both allopathic and naturopathic medicine into customised vitamin injection and IV therapies”.
