Damon Albarn tells Glastonbury crowd that “democracy has failed us”

The Blur frontman addressed the crowd at the Pyramid Stage earlier this morning regarding the EU Referendum

Damon Albarn has declared that “democracy has failed us” in reference to Britain leaving the EU.

Yesterday’s referendum saw the UK vote to leave the European Union, with Prime Minister David Cameron confirming this morning that he will step down by October.

The Blur frontman took the opportunity to speak on the outcome of the Referendum during his performance with The Orchestra of Syrian Musicians, who opened the Pyramid Stage at 11am today (June 24).

“I have a very heavy heart today,” Albarn announced. “To my mind, democracy has failed us, because we were ill-informed.”

“And I just want all of you to know, that when we leave here, we can change that decision,” he continued. “It is possible.” His words were met by warm cheers from the crowd.
