Damon Albarn sings ‘Parklife’ in London pub – watch

Blur frontman joins local band The Gents on stage in The Red Lion

Damon Albarn surprised customers in an east London, after he performed ‘Parklife’ on stage with a local band – watch footage of it above.

The Blur frontman turned solo artist got onstage with The Gents at the Red Lion in Leytonstone earlier this week (April 23).

The Gents, who play “modern pop songs in a cockney style,” according to their website, said they were getting ready to perform when Damon Albarn walked in and started chatting to them.

“We were getting ready for a St George’s Day knees-up at the Red Lion in Leytonstone on Wednesday night when in walked Mr Albarn. He asked what we were up to and said he’d be up for joining in a bit later,” frontman Kristian Cockburn told Mail Online.

He added: “We play daft Cock-er-nee versions of silly pop songs and he was up for getting involved. When he came back to the pub later he joined us for a raucous rendition of ‘Parklife’… and the whole place kicked off with everyone joining in for the choruses.”

Damon Albarn releases his solo album ‘Everyday Robots’ on April 28. He will play two small shows in London to mark the release as well as gigs in Portsmouth and Bristol.
