Bedingfield Tops UK Chart

Robbie Williams remains top of the album heap...

Daniel Bedingfield has today (December 1) scored his second number one taking ‘If You’re Not The One’ to the top of the UK charts.

The star’s ballad sees off all conquering Atomic Kitten with ‘Last Goodbye’. The all-girl trio debut at two, one ahead of last week’s chart-topper Christina Aguilera.

Former Boyzone frontman Ronan Keating enters at four with his duet with veteran singer-for-hire Lulu, while Scottish pop idol Darius fails to repeat the chart topping success of his last single seeing ‘Rushes enter at five.

The only other entry on the top 10 comes from newcomer Liam Lynch with his very brief debut ‘United States Of Whatever’. He hits the chart two places above Enrique Iglesias at 12 with ‘Maybe’, itself three places above old-school rave act Scooter at 15 with ‘Posse…’.

As many acts are keeping their powder dry and waiting for the lucrative run-in to Christmas, only two other new entries appear on the top 30 – Alicia Keys at 24 and Nickelback at 30.

A little further down Anastacia at 31, Bjork at 37 and Celine Dion at 38.

On the album charts, Robbie Williams remains stuck at one with his all-conquering ‘Escapology’. There is little other movement on the movement on the top 10 with stars such as Blue, Westlife, Elton John, Pink and David Gray still buoyant. Lionel Ritchie says Hello at eight with greatest hits set ‘Encore’.
