Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic aren’t ruling out future Nirvana shows

"It’s delicate territory, and you can’t treat it like just another show,”

Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic have admitted that they’re open to the prospect of Nirvana shows, after the grunge icons reunited for a recent performance.

As the Foos headlined CalJam earlier this month, they ended the set with a mini reunion that marked their first time performing together since being inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.

Grohl, Pat Smear and Novoselic ran through six tracks – with Joan Jett and Deer Tick’s John McCauley performing with the band. The same line-up performed in 2014, after Nirvana’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

However, Grohl has now admitted that future performances with Novoselic and Nirvana guitarist Pat Smear could be in the offing – but it’s all about the occasion.

“After we played the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, I considered the idea that, if there was an opportunity, we could do it again”, Grohl told Kerrang.

“But it’s delicate territory, and you can’t treat it like just another show,” Grohl added. “It’s very complicated, and very special. In those moments, when it just happens naturally, I think is the best way.”

Krist Novoselic added: “Personally, it was great to play with those guys again, and to play those songs.”

Novoselic is also of a similar mindset to Grohl, admitting that it will not become a “regular thing” and it “won’t become a full circus”.

The same interview saw Grohl discussing the “spiritual” experience of playing Smells Like Teen Spirit for only the second time in two decades.

“It was like being shot into outer space,” he said. “Being able to play that drum fill and break into the chorus…it’s spiritual, physical, emotional.”
