David Bowie’s son welcomes first child and names him in honour of his late father

The first grandchild of the late David Bowie was born earlier this month (July)

Film director Duncan Jones, the son of the late David Bowie, and his wife Rodene have welcomed their first child.

Source Code and Warcraft director Jones shared the news on Twitter earlier today (July 30), revealing that he has given his new-born son the middle name “David”.

“Stenton David Jones. Born July 10th, exactly six months after his grandad made room for him. Love you both so,” he wrote on Twitter.

Stenton David Jones is the first grandchild of the late David Bowie. Bowie, who passed away on January 10, also has a daughter, Duncan Jones’ half-sister, Alexandria, who is in her teens. Duncan Jones’ mother is Bowie’s first wife Angie, while Alexandria’s mother is supermodel and businesswoman Iman, to whom Bowie was married from 1992 until his death.

Meanwhile, the band who featured on David Bowie’s final album ‘Blackstar’ have announced their own album inspired by and dedicated to their former collaborator. Saxophonist Donny McCaslin and his group will release the album ‘Beyond Now’ on October 14 via Motéma Music.

In a press release, McCaslin said: “David Bowie was a visionary artist whose generosity, creative spirit, and fearlessness will stay with me the rest of my days. ‘Beyond Now’ is dedicated to him and to all who loved him.”
