David Bowie to release ‘Rebel Rebel’ special 7″ picture disc

It is the latest in a run of 40th anniversary reissues

David Bowie‘s single ‘Rebel Rebel’ will be released on a special 40th anniversary 7″ picture disc, it has been announced.

The track, which reached Number Five in the UK charts on its release in February 1974, was Bowie’s first since disbanding The Spiders From Mars and featured on his album ‘Diamond Dogs’.

The A-side of the limited edition 7″ picture disc features the original single mix of the track, which hasn’t been available on 7″ since the early 1980’s.

The AA-side features the US Version of the track, which is a remixed version of the song with extra overdubs that was released in May 1974.

The artwork for the picture disc features two images from a session that took place in Amsterdam at the television show [iTop Pop in February 1974.

At the end of last year (2013), David Bowie released a Christmas message to fans via BBC 6 Music. The 41-second long clip was broadcast on Boxing Day, features Bowie doing an Elvis impression.
