The star says it's fine for fans to use his songs for splicing up in a new Internet competition...
David Bowie is urging bedroom DJs to bootleg his songs.
The star has given fans the right to use his songs in an Internet competition to create a bootlegged “mash-up” of two existing tracks.
The winning tune will be released on MP3 and its creator will win a car.
“I’m very comfortable with the idea and have been the subject of quite a few pretty good mash-ups myself,” David Bowie told The Times.
The contest requires entrants to splice any song from the singer’s latest album, ‘Reality’, with any other David Bowie song.
A number of entries will be broadcast via the Bowienet website, with listeners selecting finalists before David Bowie chooses the winner.
