David Bowie was set to appear in ‘Twin Peaks’ reboot before his death

Late star originally appeared in 1992 spin-off film 'Fire Walk With Me'

David Bowie had been planning to reprise his role in Twin Peaks before he passed away, new reports claim.

Bowie appeared as Agent Phillip Jeffries in the show’s 1992 spin-off film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.

According to an interview with actor Harry Goaz in the Dallas Morning News, Bowie had been set to reprise the role for a cameo in the new season of David Lynch’s cult show.

Twin Peaks will return for broadcast on the Showtime network in the USA at some point in 2017. No air date or UK broadcaster has been announced, though it is expected to be available on various legal streaming platforms.

A total of 217 actors will appear in the new season of the show, which picks up a quarter of a century after the events of its first two series. Many veterans of Twin Peaks‘ first incarnation are returning, not least its arguable star, Kyle MacLaughlin as the affable FBI agent Dale Cooper, but there are many interesting new names on the huge cast list which has just been released.

New additions include Amanda Seyfried, Ashley Judd, Michael Cera, Trent Reznor, Jessica Szohr, Jane Levy and Richard Chamberlain. Dozens of the original cast members are returning alongside MacLaughlin, including David Duchovney, Ray Wise and Sherilyn Fenn.
