David Bowie, SIR PAUL McCARTNEY and Prince were all honoured at the third annual YAHOO! INTERNET LIFE ON-LINE MUSIC AWARDS ceremony last night in NEW YORK (July 24).
The Thin White Duke, who has been at the forefront of harnessing the power of the web in order to release and distribute music, received ‘The On-line Pioneer Of The Year Award’ as recognition for his work. His website, [url=]www.davidbowie.com, was also recognised being named ‘Best Artist Site’.
McCartney scooped a gong for the webcast of the show that saw him return to perform at the Beatles‘ spiritual home, Liverpool’s Cavern Club. He picked up the ‘Best Live On-line Event’ award. The artist again known as Prince scooped the ‘Best Internet-Only Single’ prize for ‘One Song’.
Nominees and winners were chosen by a mixture of online votes, Yahoo! Internet Life Magazine‘s editorial staff and people within the music and on-line industries.
