The director responsible for iconic films such as Mulholland Drive and The Elephant Man was approached directly by West, who Lynch claims in a new interview with the Daily Beast, “refused to take no for an answer”.
However, when it came down to making the music video for the ‘Yeezus’ track, Lynch was unable to come up with a good enough idea. “I feel I let [Kanye] down a little bit,” Lynch said in the new interview. “‘Blood On The Leaves’ is one of my favourite songs. I loved the song, and that’s what brought us together, but I couldn’t come up with ideas that thrilled either one of us.”
The last music video that Lynch directed for another artist was Nine Inch Nails’ ‘Come Back Haunted’ in 2013. The director also released his second album, ‘The Big Dream’, in 2013. The album is the follow-up to his 2011 debut, ‘Crazy Clown Time’. It features a cover of Bob Dylan‘s ‘The Ballad Of Hollis Brown’ and a collaboration with Lykke Li called ‘I’m Waiting Here’.
