De La Soul have been named as the third headliner for this year’s Camp Bestival.
The US hip-hop trio, who recently gave away their entire back catalogue, join Basement Jaxx and James on the line-up. The festival runs from July 31 to August 3 at Lulworth Castle in Dorset and De La Soul will headline the Saturday night (August 2).
James will headline the opening night, while Basement Jaxx close the festival with the headline slot on August 3. Also on the bill are Johnny Marr, Sinead O’Connor, Laura Mvula, Steve Mason and Peter Hook And The Light.
Festival organiser Rob da Bank said: “De la Soul have soundtracked my life for the past 25 years since the dayglo hippy daisy age glory of ‘3 Feet High And Rising’ first found its way onto my first plastic turntable. I’ve seen them loads of times since then and they are just one of the best party acts imaginable. Camp Bestival is gonna be a very, very fun place on Saturday night!”
Other acts confirmed to play include The Skatalites, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Chas & Dave, The Wedding Present, Public Service Broadcasting, Nick Mulvey, The Cuban Brothers, Charlotte Church and Denai Moore.
The festival will have a circus theme, with fancy dress ideas including lion tamers and trapeze artists.
