Dance artist also receives death threats after he takes to Twitter
The outspoken dance artist took to Twitter to vent his anger. He wrote: “What the actual fuck? If some idiot howls in the woods and noones around, does it make a sound? MYTH BUSTED.”
The tweet has since been taken down after Gaga’s fans tweeted him online abuse including suggestions Deadmau should kill himself. The video, which you can see below, was filmed in upstate New York and sees Gaga practising The Abramovic Method. The Abramovic Method is designed to heighten participants’ awareness of their physical and mental experience in the present moment.
The method helps participants to develop skills for observing long durational performances through a series of exercises, some of which are performed by Gaga in the video. The video is part of a Kickstarter campaign designed to raise funds for a building which will act as an “interdisciplinary performance and education centre”.
Marina Abramovic is enjoying something of a pop culture boom in 2013, having also appeared in the video for Jay Z’s ‘Picasso Baby’ and getting a name-check from Frank Ocean in the lyrics to a remix he recently posted online. The New York-based artist began her career in the early 1970s and has been active for over three decades, building a reputation as the “grandmother of performance art”.
