A lymph node infection wasn't going to stop the Canadian...
Deadmau5 has revealed that he left hospital, played a gig and then returned to hospital in the midst of a lymph node infection late last week.
The show was for Red Bull in Miami, with the DJ also known as Joel Zimmerman posting images captioned “yay steroids” shortly before he was due to play.
Zimmerman took to Twitter to recount the experience, saying:
“Literally snuck out of hospital, hopped on a jet, played a show for Red Bull, getting back on jet, going back to hospital. Such lols.” Responding to a question about his condition, he added “nothing serious. thyroid/ lymph node shit. Caused by some underlying thing that may or may not exist. All good.”
Later the same day (December 11), he confirmed he is okay, adding “back home. Everything is groovy. Just doing a huge overhaul of the new production PC. Installing/ updating software and such.”
Following on from what the DJ called a “winter hibernation,” Deadmau5’s eighth studio album is expected sometime in early 2016, with recent tweets also suggesting that it might already be complete. In response to criticism about “making an album himself,” Deadmau5 said “I have, eight times.”
Deadmau5 backed Noel Gallagher‘s comments about the laziness of some DJs back in July, posting on Tumblr:
“Are you or are you not a guy who can use a comupter to make music? Because you’re making in upwards of 200K to play a fucking CD…. so… wait. why?
“With all the resources you have attained in the past X years of getting to where you are now…. WOULD IT FUCKING KILL YOU, to be able to add some sort of modularity, performance, showmanship BEYOND putting a fist in the air, telling people to make noise, and or playing the top line on an invisible keyboard in the air to show the crowd ‘HEY! EVERYONE! THIS LEAD GOES HERE! WATCH MY HAND. IT GOES DOOT DOOT DOOT DOOT.'”
The DJ posted some pictures from hospital on his Instagram, see below:
