The rap group announced their split earlier this summer
Death Grips have completed work on their ‘The Powers That B’ double album.
Though the rap group announced their split this summer, they have taken to Facebook to state that work has finished on their final LP, writing: “Our new double album “The Powers That B” is now complete. This is the album cover. Digital and physical release dates coming soon.” The artwork is pictured above.
Death Grips released the first half of their surprise double album, called ‘Niggas On The Moon’, which featured samples of Bjork’s vocals, earlier this year. The record was the first installment of the double-LP, with the second part titled ‘Jenny Death’, which is expected to come out later this year.
Despite this, on July 2, in a post on their Facebook, they wrote that “Death Grips is over” and cancelled all future shows. The band, which comprised Stefan Burnett aka MC Ride, Andy Morin and Zach Hill, wrote: “we are now at our best and so Death Grips is over. we have officially stopped. all currently scheduled live dates are canceled. our upcoming double album “the powers that b” will still be delivered worldwide later this year via Harvest/Third Worlds Records. Death Grips was and always has been a conceptual art exhibition anchored by sound and vision. above and beyond a “band”. to our truest fans, please stay legend.”
The album follows last year’s ‘Government Plates’, 2011’s ‘The Money Store’ and ‘No Love, Deep Web’ as well as the ‘Exmilitary’ mixtape.
