The Decemberists unveil new song ‘Once In My Life’ and announce UK tour

New album 'I'll Be Your Girl' is out next week

The Decemberists have unveiled a brand new single ‘Once In My Life’, as well as announcing details of a UK tour.

Following from the New Order-inspired and electro-rock driven pulse of previous single ‘Severed’, ‘Once In My Life’ injects their more traditional acoustic and mournful sound with flourishes of synth.

“When you’ve been a band for 17 years, inevitably there are habits you fall into,” said frontman Colin Meloy of their new direction. “So our ambition this time was really just to get out of our comfort zone. That’s what prompted working with a different producer and using a different studio. We wanted to free ourselves from old patterns and give ourselves permission to try something different.”
