Bradford Cox's band cite 'unforseen family circumstances' as trek is axed
Deerhunter have cancelled their upcoming European tour amid “unforseen family circumstances”.
The group were due to begin a month-long tour of the continent in Glasgow on October 13 in support of their sixth studio album, ‘Monomania’. The trip will no longer go ahead, according to a statement issued today (September 18) via promoters All Tomorrow’s Parties.
“We are very disappointed to have to cancel our upcoming European tour due to unforeseen circumstances,” the group explained in the statement. “We were very excited for these shows, but unfortunately family circumstances at home for multiple members of the band have made this unavoidable. We will reschedule as soon as possible.” A spokesperson for the band speculated that the rescheduled dates will most likely be in early 2014.
Deerhunter are scheduled to perform two shows at New York’s Webster Hall in New York tonight and tomorrow, with further dates in Philadelphia, Washington and Chapel Hill this weekend. It’s not yet known if these shows will be affected, nor their planned Australian tour, scheduled to begin in Perth on December 7.
