Watch Deftones’ Chino Moreno perform inside a volcano

He played three songs inside the volcano in Reykjavik

Deftones‘ Chino Moreno performed inside a volcano in Reykjavik, Iceland over the weekend, becoming the first musician to achieve the feat.

The event was part of the Secret Solstice Festival and took place in the Thrihnuagigur volcano. Twenty fans watched Moreno play 400 feet beneath the surface, inside the dormant magma chamber.

Fans had to pay £1,380 to attend the show and trekked for two and a half hours across lava fields to reach the volcano. Those present were sent down to the chamber, where temperatures were below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, on a converted window cleaning lift.

Moreno played only three songs in the volcano, with Icelandic singer-songwriter Snorri Helgason joining him for the short set.

The Deftones’ frontman’s setlist included Morrissey and David Bowie covers and Deftones’ ‘Change (In The House Of Flies)’. Watch footage of the latter below, via Consequence Of Sound.
