Deftones share ‘Prayers/Triangles’ from new album ‘Gore’

The Sacramento band are releasing their first album in four years

Deftones have shared the first single from their upcoming new album ‘Gore’.

The Californian rock band premiered the new track on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio show.

The band will release their eighth studio album on April 8 via Warner Bros. Records.

According to frontman Chino Moreno, the five-piece recorded sixteen songs for the follow up to 2012’s ‘Koi No Yokan’. The record was produced by Matt Hyde and features a guest appearance by Jerry Cantrell from Alice In Chains.

Moreno previously described the sound of the LP as “out of the box” to NME, adding that it’s “full of keyboards and a lot of cool, spacey low frequencies” as well as “organic jams”.

The singer also revealed that former Smiths frontman Morrissey was a surprise influence on the record. “I’ve been on this crazy Morrissey kick recently – totally obsessing over his solo records – so I brought a lot of that to the table,” Moreno said. “On those early solo records, he uses this awesome, Elvis-y delay on his vocal that I’ve been ripping off a ton. He’s always been a favourite lyricist of mine – the beautiful poetic melancholy of it all.”

Deftones also announced a number tour dates including a headline show at London’s Wembley Arena.
